Regarding Head Shape
Drawing upon her own experience and training as a hairdresser, Ryann Bosetti has composed a book and a methodology for scrutinizing an objective technique in relation to its subjective execution. Bosetti approaches a taxonomy of the haircut as a scientific form, and dissects it as an architectural, sculptural and site-specific practice. The book is divided into categories according to regions of the head and neck with empirically technical vocabulary, punctuated with barbershop small talk from haircuts in progress. The resulting volume is a combination of anthropological document, technical manual and quotidian narrative.
“Ryann Bosetti, with a background in traditional mathematical hairdressing, speaks of her realization of the importance of intuition and individuality in haircuts.” – from the publisher
